1.Kaleido cosmetics skin blush in Primadonna.

Primadonna is a shimmering rosy pink blusher which suits most light-fair-medium skintone. Just a single swipe reveals a truly pigmented powder hence tapping off the excess on the brush before swirling on your cheeks is recommended. Apply lightly for a sheer colour or build it up for a strong vibrant pink. It is also talc free and cruelty free with 100% plant based ingredients. (Swatch below)

2.Finding Ferdinand mini lipstick in Au naturel.

If you have kids and you have to watch cartoon movies with them ALL the time then you’d probably think of a bull everytime you read Ferdinand. I know i did. Au naturel is the nude colour, amongst the other variations there is also a rosey brown & a purple fuchsia shade. The nude pulled much pinkier on my lips and altho it did not give me concealer lips, it was much too cool tone for me. I prefer my nudes to have more warmth. As you see from the swatch however it is not too obvious and seems almost like my lip colour with a hint of pink. Formula wise i find it to be abit on the drying side, I probably will not repurchase this in full size.

3.MAC prep & prime skin base visage.

Its great to see a high end brand like MAC in one of the cheaper beauty bags. But you can get a sample of these tubes whenever you make some purchase online at MAC too. I have tried some of the prep & prime series, like the natural radiance base lumiere and the skin refined zone treatment samples.  

The skin base visage comes out looking like an opaque white cream, when spread out evenly it leaves the skin feeling smooth and primed and also shimmery. Its very similar to the natural radiance base which has shimmery particles to create a radiant glow.

4.Hey honey come clean propolis & mineral facial scrub.

According to the brand, this is a rich, cleansing and exfoliating scrub that deep cleanses for clearer, smoother and brighter skin. The crystalline beads scrubs away impurities like dead skin cells and blackheads, it also dissolves with water (environmentally friendly too). Reviews also says that this product is good for people who suffer from acne, but steer clear if you have sensitive skin since some reviews says that it causes a mild burning feel. I’d like to think that my face has a tough shield to prevent exfoliators from burning through. 

5.Biobelle unicornglow perfect radiance tencel facial mask. (Times 2pcs!)

I am a sheet masking whore and i have my monthly dose of facetory that provides me with a relaxing mask each week (4pcs in a kit). Made of tencel sheet, this is supposedly a comfy mask that sits on the contours of your face nicely. Infused with chocolate, mulberry & honey ingredients, this is a very lovely sheet mask to trial.

I have so far seen 3 bag variations for this month’s theme. I’ve seen the pink, yellow and mine was the blue bag. I wonder if there is an array of colours like the rainbow for the bag variations. But also, overall i love the items that came in my $10 Ipsy bag. Altho i do wished that i got the rose gold lipstick instead of the au naturel.

April’s box comes with a card with a theme around a musical sunset. I am not entirely sure how that relates to the sheet masks but here they are:

1. no:hj lace mask.

This is a very pretty looking mask! It looks luxurious in gold lace and the surrounding mask is transparent. The novelty is nice but I couldn’t figure out the masks’ main purpose but it does have a nice contour fit.

2. Mulberry collagen essence mask.

Most berries have antioxidants properties and this mulberry mask promises the same collagen infused mask effect on the skin. Upon application i did not like the fit of the mask that well but it is full of gooey serum that covers the entire face with extras. It absorbs well into the skin and only has a slight tacky feel after removal. 

3. Creme mask sheet.

Sometimes I’m scared to try masks that are on the heavier side such as cream based masks because the consistency is usually thicker than the regular serums. They usually feel heavy on the skin and when removed it makes my face feel oilier than usual. However, with this mask i did not get the usual oiliness and in fact it feels cooling on my face and i could almost feel some moisturising action going on in my face. 

The fit is great without any excess material and also it folds neatly at the edges. One thing different about this mask is that the eye hole comes with flaps that you can cover your lid in case you’re intending to close your eyes and relax. 

After removal, i had to make a quick stop to mail some packages, so i put on some light make up and am glad that i could skip the moisturising part as the mask has done the job for me. 

4. Collagen wrinkle care mask pack.

I feel like this would be a great mask targeted at older age group since its packed with Collagen and wrinkle care. Personally, I’ve always had lines on my forehead which I’m unsure why they’re there, but it’s there. So after applying the mask i feel like it did slightly tighten my face, the pores are still visible tho. And the mask is a good fit for my face structure and folds nicely at the seams too. 

Overall April’s kit was cute with the lacy mask and the cream mask works surprisingly well. I am always happy with trying out these masks and there are always so many different purposes to use them for. You can never have too much masks.

As you can see in this month box there is 2 hairspray products which i really wish was something else other than 2 products with similar functions. 

1.First Aid Beauty coconut skin smoothing priming moisturiser.

I’ve always wanted to try First Aid Beauty, this is a coconut skin smoothing primer and moisturiser.  I like that it has both functions as a primer and moisturiser, much like the Smashbox primerizer. It erases the extra step to moisturize first before using a primer underneath your makeup. This smells like cherry and peaches. Has a light texture and is non greasy.

2.Kenra dry oil control spray.

I will try this one out as i have removed my 6 month old dreadlocks from my head and a product that promises to tame frizz is welcomed. This also has oil control and is a nourishing hair spray.

3.Loreal paris Elnett satin hair spray. 

I gave this away to my husband because it works better for him to style his short hair, and i do not really need an extra strong hairspray to create a hard shell of hair on the outer layer.

4.St tropez self tan Purity.

I’m not sure who in this day of age is still interested in self tanning, ever since paris hilton was still relevant that is. This is a hard pass for me and something i will definitely pass along to someone else who is into tanning.

5.Wander beauty Gold eye mask.

I like eye masks and even though t has been scientifically proven that gold do not have any significant impact when used in cosmetics or beauty products, it gives off a luxurious vibe to be wearing gold on the eye. This is cooling and helps tighten up the muscles underneath and give an overall feel of freshness.

6.CLE melting lip powder in Desert Rose.

This is how the magical powder looks like in the bottle and as you can see it is all in powder form.

Has a normal lip applicator inside.

I tried a little hand swatch first to see if it will change to a liquid form on my hand, apart from the powders flying all over, it does transform on the hand.

And this is how it looks like upon application, it was only slightly messy as there will always be some fall outs when you pop the applicator from the bottle top. Altho the shade is desert rose(i thought would be much more rosy pink), the shade turns out an orangey red on my lips. Its slightly drying because of the original powder form it came in, so wearing lip balm under neath is a huge help. Wear time it lasted only 2-3 hours, as soon as i sipped some water, it started to disappear around the edges. Pretty soon i noticed it left patches in my inner lips and the rest of the mouth has disappeared. 

So overall for May box i did not like that double hair spray products and hopefully allure will not repeat that again in the future boxes. And no more tanning products please. The makeup products were a nice improvement.

This is the Sephora May play box, there’s a total of 6 deluxe size samples this month and some are repeats that i have gotten before and some are new. This month’s bag also looks much more sporty with the red corduroy string against the denim bag. So lets dive in. 

1. Kat von d Tattoo liner in Trooper black.

This all time classic eye liner is something that i have religiously repurchased in full size after my sample sizes has finished. I only use pen or felt tip type of eyeliner as it is much easier to draw a straight line with. Its thick and pigmented, only downside is that it is not waterproof. Kat needs to make a waterproof version for this to really be tattoo like.

2. The pore fessional minimising pore primer mini travel size.

This is another classic sample that has been around ever since i started subbing to beauty boxes. Its a cult favourite with many people and it makes your base much more smoother for makeup application. Also promises to minimise the appearance of large pores.

3.Bumble & Bumble thickening spray.

A hairspray that promises to thicken hair, as i have just removed my dreadlocks, i do have some hair loss and a thickening spray looks like just what i needed. I like the scent of the spray, smells good and nothing chemically enhanced. I also like the brand B&B. Plus the sample amount is quite generous this time round as opposed to receiving sample sachets.

4.Becca shimmering skin perfector in Champagne pop.

One of the best selling highlighters around, also i have previously received a sample of this from Allure beauty box the Jaclyn hill curated box. Champagne pop is a champagne gold shade that is really pigmented and literally pops out on your cheekbones. I was surprised at the pigmentation and this highlight is worth it.

5.Sephora Mud mask purifying & mattifying.

This has a strong scent and smells like man’s cologne, it contains zinc and copper ingredients. It absorbs excess sebum and reduces blemish appearance. Apply on clean dry skin and it will dry and change to a lighter grey once its ready to be washed off. I like these type of charcoal clay mask because you can see the difference and the colour change absorbing the oils from your glands.

6.Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb perfume.

This has a strong smell with Jasmine top notes, Orange blossom middle notes and Patchouli base notes. It is described as a warm and spicy scent. Definitely not for the faint of noses, this intriguing scent will last quite a while. 

I like this month’s bag even though there are repeats of samples i have received before from different subscription boxes. The repeats are still one of those cult favourites which happens to be my favourites too. So i dont mind that. And the hair product is also very useful with decent size. Hopefully play box gives more newer products in future boxes tho.
